About Me

I am a twenty something year old girl who graduated in June from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Film, Television, and Digital Media.

I have been teaching for as long as I can remember and have considered teaching as a profession many times in my life. In kindergarten, I taught my soft toys using the whiteboard in the hallway between my parents' clinic and our kitchen. I created extensive class schedules and demanded I be bought a whiteboard of equal size when we moved to New Zealand so that I could continue my lessons. In New Zealand, my younger sister became my most loyal student. Using our old school exercise books, I "taught" social science, art and English and "graded" homework assignments, which was my favourite part because it was the only time I got to use a red pen.

On a more serious note, I have taught elementary, secondary and high school English, humanities, social sciences, science and math, as well as the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, PSAT and SAT since high school. I have watched my students mature from cute elementary-schoolers to angst-y (sorry kids) teenagers, who I love nonetheless. I started incorporating blogs into my lessons in 2012, getting my students to publish their pieces on their own Tumblr blogs. I then forgot about the blogs and stumbled on them almost a year later, which prompted me to start this blog.

This blog will serve as a place for my thoughts, homework assignments (sorry kids) and engaging in fun and thoughtful conversations.

Personally, I am an aspiring digital journalist, film and TV junkie and obsessive tea drinker. I blog some and tweet some. I am all over the Interweb, and you can find out more about me on my website and LinkedIn.
